My family has wanted to try the Red Jet Cafe for quite a while now and finally got the chance. We went on a Saturday around lunch time, and were seated right away. Our waitress brought waters and took drink orders immediately. My daughter ordered the Apple and Cinnamon crepe. She was excited to try crepes for the first time. She loved it and said it was delicious. I tried the Apple, Bacon, and Gouda crepe. I think it is one of the best things I have ever eaten. It was savory, rich, and the crunch of the tart apples were perfect. I am already thinking about when I can eat this again. My boyfriend ordered a wood fired pizza with red sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni. He said it was very good. The crust was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Our waitress was very friendly, asked if we had questions on the menu, and offered some suggestions. We would not hesitate to visit the Red Jet Cafe again.

Nice ambiance for breakfast and lunch. I ordered fish tacos and said no cilantro 3 times. I was acknowledged and was told they were out of rice and will give me vegetable instead. The tacos arrived with cliantro and the veggies had bacon. Ewwww. The waitress apologized and brought new vegetables. She offered new tacos but everyone had their food already. Service recovery was ok, but I was disappointed. Not certain I will recommend or discourage as well. Giving this just an OK.

Good all around. Excellent spot for lunch or brunch. Out of the way without being a hassle. Food is good, service is good, atmosphere is good. Tap list is succinct yet surprisingly nice. You don't need to worry about parking--there's ample room on the street as well as a free public lot less than a block away. Oh, and the wood-fired pizzas are amazing.

Very good and nice to sit outside. Had my favorite Gilmore Collection Squash Bisque though it was not quite as yummy as at Blue Water...not sure why but it was still very good. Looking forward to coming back for lunch soon.

Yuuuuuumy place! The panini's and salads are awesome! The atmosphere is great & I can't wait to go back and try their stone fire pizza.

Very cool place. I met a friend for brunch here on Saturday. While the location is easy to find, it's not in the greatest part of Grand Rapids. My friend had the french toast and it looked to be a quite large order full of grilled bread, syrup and strawberries. She said it was "da bomb". Given I generally don't eat sweets for breakfast I ended up wtih the "scramble of the day" which on that day consisted of baby spinach, ham, brie, potatotes, eggs and carmelized onions. It was served with fanastic english muffin bread and jam. Overall, it was really good. More than I could eat! Service was fantastic! Our waitress was attentive, fun, and patient! While their breakfast menu isn't massive, they have a nice selection of french toast, crepes, and scrambles. It's neat in that they have a lunch and dinner menu with a bar.... My only gripe about this place is that I ordered a latte with french vanilla and it was very odd tasting. It really didn't taste very good. If I were to come back I would get a "regular coffee" versus a latte, but I would be back! Woth a trip!

Stopped here for breakfast after a 5k in GR. Not too busy, but a decent crowd. I had the caramel apple French toast and it was amazing. Fresh sliced crisp apples a large dollop of cream cheese and a dollop of whipped cream. Delish and filling. Others in my party had the savory crepe, the breakfast panini, and a chorizo scramble. Their potatoes are well seasoned and just the right amount of crispy. Funny little location and fast service.

This is an update to my previous review. After a few more visits with family and friends I'm sad to say I will not return to RBJ. They had some awesome happy hour specials and drinks this summer, and the food and drinks were promisingly good (as were the prices!) but...oh, my GOODNESS was the service HORRIBLE! Look, I can sort of excuse bad service if it's busy, but it wasn't at all. When the staff is standing in a cluster just chit-chatting and you and your whole table is sitting with empty Cosmo's staring pointedly at them (after waiting for your appetizers for over a half hour), then there is something wrong. Since they are about two blocks from me, I had extremely high hopes for this place. Such a shame.

Traveling through Michigan on vacation, we made a stop in Grand Rapids for the Ford Museum and Library. Yelp recommendations led us to this place for lunch. What a treat. Great service, and wonderful food. It was totally worth the detour!

Just went for desserts. 5 Stars for that! YUMMY sweet crepes! We got the granny smith apple stuffed ones, served with a caramel bourbon sauce. To die for. We also got a homemade peanut butter pie. It was the best we've had in a long time! The sweet peanut-butteryness was spot on and with a perfect chocolate cookie crust. It will be hard not to try any other dessert next time, but their mixed berry and mascarpone crepes and homemade pecan pie sound tasty as well. The rest of the menu looked delicious and the pizzas looked and smelled great. Were going back and will update the review then :)

Myself and a group of about 8 friends went here for brunch one Sunday afternoon. We were seated within 5 minutes, the atmosphere was nice, it appeared to be an old bank. The service was acceptable, not fast, but the place was busy so it's forgivable. Unfortunately it went down hill once I received my meal, which looked great. I had the Cubano pizza because, well, they're known for their pizzas and a Cuban sounded wonderful that afternoon. Unfortunately after the pizza arrived I realized I hadn't read the menu close enough. This "Cuban" had barbecue sauce, mayonnaise, and honey mustard on it and the pork had absolutely no flavor. Leaving you with a sickeningly sweet pizza failing to deliver any hints of flavor that it's Cuban name would imply. Others that ordered the massive breakfast burritos loved their meals. So, if you go, don't branch out, stick with foods you can't mess up. Furthermore, why do restaurants put such horrible things on their menu. Cut out the foods that aren't amazing, no one is going to hate you for not serving mediocre food and you likely won't have me lowering your star rating just because you wanted to fill out your menu.

  • Sebastian L.

Oh yeah, the service is terrible. No argument. I don't really care about service, generally. But the only person who seems on top of things here is the person making the food. The bar people take 5-10 minutes to pull a beer. The waittress takes 5-10 minutes to notice that your beer is waiting to be picked up and carried fifteen feet over to you. Your order isn't taken very quickly, filled very quickly, or delivered very quickly. Why four stars? Because the food is awesome, especially the happy hour specials. It's absolutely divine. The non-special food is good, too, but not especially cheap. As someone else noted, the breakfast options would benefit from variety within each option--that is, each one thing tends to hit one note, although it hits that note very well. So, normally, maybe three stars. Happy hour, five stars. Since the waitress said my eyes are pretty, that definitely averages out at four stars. Now if only she'd step lively...

I had an awesome breakfast. It was a scramble with chorizo, ham, smoked bacon and veggies, with a fresh muffin on the side. I wanted to try the blood Orange margarita but it was too early on Sunday...however the blood orange spritzer was super tasty. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town.

What a great find! I have driven by this place but never stopped. The wood fire pizza's are delicious. I had both the BLT pizza and the goat cheese and sausage. Great spot for an awesome pie. The rest of the menu looks just as good. Rumor has it their breakfeat is killer. I'll be back to give crepes or french toast a try

I dined at Red Jet twice over Memorial Day weekend. Everything I tasted on both days was delicious and reasonably priced. Service was good, especially on our second visit. Our first visit to Red Jet was for breakfast. I had the four cheese and spinach omelet while my wife had a savory crepe with cream cheese, scallions, and wood roasted portabello mushrooms. Both were delicious. The coffee was also enjoyable. On the second visit, a party member requested a custom pizza utilizing peanut butter. One half of the pizza would be peanut butter and bacon while the other half would be peanut butter, pulled pork, and BBQ sauce. She presented the idea to our server who presented it to the chef. The chef was open to making the pizza. Not long afterwords, we had a hot, peanut-butter pizza in front of us! My only complaint is the lack of information about Red Jet being closed on Memorial Day. There were no signs posted and their answering machine claimed they were open 7 days a week. I'll definitely consider dining at Red Jet the next time I am in Grand Rapids.

Fresh well prepared food with an emphasis on local ingredients at a great price! Mixture of breakfast foods, sandwiches, and incredible wood-fired pizzas. The BBQ Chicken pizza is second to none. We also really like the smoked chicken pizza. The southwestern is great for breakfast/brunch. Also had the French Toast (good but more like bread pudding), Omelettes, Breakfast panini, Turkey Cranberry Sandwich, and RBJ scramble. Everything has been very good. Tasty organic fair trade coffee and excellent baked goods at the counter.

Definitely worth checking out. Cool building, great espresso drinks, and apparently a full bar also (we went for breakfast...). Breakfast sandwich was great; crepes left a bit to be desired. Service was good when we finally were recognized: the restaurant is small and seat-yourself; once we sat down we got acknowledged by every server there but NOBODY came up to us for at least 20 minutes. It was a good meal but it got off to an irritating start...

My first visit to Red Ball Jet was for a lunch meeting. The service was very good and I enjoyed the individual pizza. I loved the atmosphere in this very unique landmark restaurant...I think it was a library or something like that. If you're looking for a unique atmosphere with great service and good food, I'd recommend giving Red Ball Jet a try. It is part of the of the Gilmore Collection of restaurants.

Lovely little location with a nice atmosphere. I visited here with my mother during Happy Hour and we snagged some cosmos and sangrias for 2 bucks. The sangrias were especially delicious. We also ordered a few of their crepes. I had a veggie crepe which came with an alfredo sauce. Everything was delicious. My mother ordered the berries and mascarpone. I've never had mascarpon before. It was described as a sweetened cream cheese and complimented the berries perfectly. Service was friendly and delivery was timely. We chose to sit on the outdoor patio and enjoyed our drinks in the warm air until our food came. Definitely going back soon!

Great low key tasty breakfast spot. In a side of GR that I was unfamiliar with, but has a lot of character. Reminds me of places in Ferndale or Royal Oak. The coffee was great as well as the farmers omelette. Very fresh ingredients used. Tasted fresh not greasy! Their homemade potatoes were Amazing. To top things off, it came accompanied with a homemade muffin!!! Be back next time I am visiting GR

This is a new breakfast/lunch spot in the Creston / Cheshire neighborhood of Grand Rapids. I came for brunch with a group of 7 women for a baby shower on a Saturday. Parking is on-street, but the meters are free on weekends. The restaurant was busy, so we were expecting a wait, but the waiter that seated us was willing to move a couple of tables around and we all fit into the back corner of the restaurant comfortably. The restaurant is small and has a retro-diner feel featuring lots of red, white and black in a building that used to be the old Creston library. It's a Gilmore Collection restaurant (The B.O.B, Rose's On Reed Lake) so we knew the food would be good, and we weren't disappointed. Their menu features breakfast items like omelets, crepes, french toast along with lunch items like salads, paninis and wood-fired pizzas. Our food took a good 40 minutes to come out, but everything was hot and delicious. I had the greek omelete, which was very tasty. The waitstaff was friendly and didn't blink an eye when we asked for separate checks. Will definitely be back to try the crepes!

Nice atmospher and a pretty impressive happy hour. Who can go wrong with $2 dollar Cosmos, It brings out my inner Samantha.

  • Doc H.

People rave about this place, but I was not impressed. Very slow service in spite of an uncrowded lunch hour. Wait staff just stands around looking snooty. Food was fair at best. Small portions. Nothing really unique. Prices moderate to high for what you get. Nice decor and a cool building. But there are dozens of great spots in Grand Rapids. No need to ever go back to this one.

I ordered food for pick up. I have never been here before and the first experience was good. I picked up my food and everything I had ordered was there except for a cookie, no big deal, I am glad I caught it as I did pay for it and was out the door when I noticed. I ordered the Spinach Artichoke Dip with toast points, the dip was good but the toast points were over salted so i felt the need to brush each point before eating. I also had a basic spinach salad with apples, mandarin oranges, strawberries, goat cheese, and what tasted like a light citrus dressing, all together excellent. Last but not least was a Macaroni and cheese. The sauce was excellant and the past cooked perfectly, not over done. I added red peppers to the dish and a bit of salt, as if I hadn't already had enough of it from the toast points. The food here was good and I definitely look frward to trying some other items upon a return visit.

  • Kyla M.

Great Lunch spot! Their food is awesome and the atmosphere is nice as are most Gilmore collections. I would have to agree with most of the reviews saying the service is just not that great. I don't think that most of their staff realizes that not everyone comes to leisurely eat lunch and maybe they have only an hour to get back to work. They always get me in and out because I ask as soon as my food comes for my bill. Staff is always nice and friendly and I do HIGHLY recommend them. Just don't go if you are on a time crunch.

  • Jonathan J.

Based in the old Creston library it is a nice place, well decorated, well taken care of. The service for breakfast on a Saturday was slow, not because the place was packed but just seemed slow. Other then that the food was great

  • Jon T.

Barely mediocre. Grew up in GRap and looked forward to going when I came back into town, since it's supposed to be a cool little neighborhood spot. Service was poor and food was marginal. I've been to other Gilmore Collection properties and had good experiences but this one was a disappointment.

  • Rob S.

We've dined there on multiple occasions. Only once did we have slower that usual service-it was quite busy that day. Service last night was friendly and fast. The pizzas are great, although the chicken pesto was a bit bland. The bbq chicken pizza is awesome. Prices are good, and now they have beer. What could be better? Park on the street or park free at the lot a few yards to the west. I love this place. Just don't sit next to the windows when its cold and windy--you'll freeze.

Maybe I'm just jaded by Chicago prices, but this restaurant is a true bargain! The food was GREAT, the menu is varied but not overwhelming, and the bill for 4 people with tax and tip was only $40! Next time I'm in town, I'm going back. Oh, I had the mac and cheese which was delicious, my partner had the pesto crepe (potatoes in place of chicken) which I tried and was more than pleasantly surprised.

  • Benj R.

I have only been here once, an I must say, it was some of the best pizza I have had, its like they cook it over a fire or something, sweet! Cheap food and drinks, and if I didn't have to drive down plainfield for 30 minuets, I would go here more often.

  • Susan B.

A Gilmore restaurant (Rose's another stand-out of theirs). Food is fresh, they try to use local, can get breakfast all day. Sandwiches, pizza, and soup are awesome. Nice cozy place - small so avoid lunch rush if you can. Metered parking, but .25 gets you an hour. If you want a good luch or breakfast place that is not a greasy spoon and food is great, this is your spot.

I have waited to write this review, as this place is in my neighborhood and I wanted to give it a fair chance. After dining there a handful of times over the summer and most recently last weekend, I can now say it is not worth it. If you live in GR you are well aware of Mr. Gilmore's monopoly on the Wood Fired tradition, some of his places do it well and some do not. This is one of them that does not. While the menu has a lot of potential, there is little to no consistency between visits with quality or taste. The only thing that stays the same at Red Ball Jet is the service, and that is the #1 reason to stay away. Every time I am there, I leave telling myself, "it was just a one time thing" well folks it is not, service is the worst around, hands down. It is really disappointing to write this review as I was really hopping for a great place in this neighborhood. Oh well, at least I tried.

Just as the previous post stated. Tiny but very welcoming. Had burgers on rye. Very tasty. Didn't have a wait but it was full up. The service is top notch almost lunch and a show. Great place to meet what could be new friends. I will stop again when in town.

I use to work here and it is not reopening. The property will be sold and the building with be repurposed. The Gilmore Collection will lie and tell you differently.

Best Cajun burger in west michigan! The crunchies in the burger will keep you from setting it down! And the pizza is to die for!!

Had the mahi mahi tacos - sort of bland even with the jalapeño jam - overall it was good. Looks better than it tasted though. I ate around 6:30 PM - beware of eating in the patio area - bugs everywhere! ! !

Went there for brunch this morning. Great food! The service was so bad it was almost laughable. Our server Brooke, ignored us and walked by several times without glancing at our table or asking how we were. Almost like she just didn't like us, lmao! Perhaps she didn't. Anywho, great food, easy parking. Not sure I would go back, simply because of the service was so bad. FYI, I edited this post today and it updated as today's date, This review is from a year ago.

Crazy good. I had to go twice in one week because my first experience was so good! First I got the veggie crepe , which normally I'm iffy on crepes , but- sooo delicious! With the spicy peanut sauce... Yum. Also hooked up with veggies! And very reasonable price for what they give you. The second time I went I got the black bean falafel ... Yum again. It's like $7.50 for three falafel balls and a nice big piece of naan and also a delicious salad with tomato, cucumber and onion! Also the servers were very kind, efficient and helpful both times I went hurr . We were right by the food window too, and everything that they were making looked delicious. Definitely will be back soon. PS - I only write yelps if it's crazy good or crazy bad, so if you're lookin' for a new place to go, definitely try this gem out!

Serviceable brunch menu with a little something for everyone. Wait for a table is never bad - and that's a plus.

I like the location and the ambience of this place a lot - I think it's worth visiting once just to see it, and to try crepes if you haven't! They're pretty good. However, this isn't somewhere I'd recommend going if you are in a hurry and I would never bring guests. When we went, the service was really inadequate. Our server was unfriendly and inattentive. We had to get up to go hunt for some ketchup on our own, and our coffee cups - which were emptied before our food arrived - were never refilled. We sat waiting for a long time before we were able to get our check, too. Since it was a busy morning we would've been forgiving about slow service, but we could clearly see the server socializing with coworkers during our entire visit - aggravating!

    Once a month I come here with my love for breakfast. I look forward to it every time!!! He gets a chai latte, I get a cafe miel and we both love the coffees. Then we share a supreme biscuit and gravy pizza, which is delightful. Biscuit crust has perfect balance of buttery goodness and slightly soft, slightly crispy consistency. Eggs are delicious, veggies are fresh, and the sausage gravy isn't overpowering and doesn't sog the crust. Then we share crepes. Usually it's blueberry and peach which we love, but today... I opted for the apple, gouda bacon crepes and they were amazing. Perfection!!!! Service is fine, food is creative and delicious. Love this place! Can't wait to try lunch or dinner!!! {location is neat, but not in best part of town.}

  • Frankie W.

Extremely disappointed!!!! Our waitress seemed a little preoccupied so getting coffee refills was a little challenging. Also, I ordered stuffed French toast and 1 of my pieces was burnt. Too overpriced for the level of their food and service. We definitely won't be repeat customers.

In town for the weekend, my wife and I were search of someplace unique for breakfast before heading back home. Well.. Red Jet Cafe is exactly that place! The quality of the food was far better than the quality of the service. My wife had the breakfast scramble, which she enjoyed and as did with the rhubarb stuffed French toast. Service? That's another story as we waited a tremendous amount of time for coffee refills and even ice water. Not to mention getting creamer in the first place. The staff member was extremely friendly but may need some additional training on customer service.

  • Emily W.

Love the atmosphere of the place and I have been here three times, twice for breakfast because I love crepes. The best crepes I have ever had have been here and I had the special peach and raspberry filled crepes and they were TO DIE FOR. I went again for breakfast and had the apple cinnamon crepes which were a disappointment once I tried my boyfriend's apple cinnamon french toast. I don't know what the bread is they use for that french toast, but it was like butter cake, it melted on the tongue and almost gave me a "When Harry Met Sally" moment (when they are eating lunch). Their pizza is also really good. I have had the macaroni and cheese and was really disappointed with it, but it may have been dying under the heat lamp. Not much seating here so don't try to come during a rush hour! Try the apple cinnamon french toast!! And try their specialty coffee!!!

I've been here a few times in the past couple years, but my last visit way today. I took my wife out to lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the ambiance. The food was incredible! If you're a service snob, you'll give this place a four. If you in a hurry, you'll give this place a four. If you love good food and don't mind filling some extra time with conversation with co-worker, partner, spouse or the person you just met on the street, then you must try this place! I can't recommend Red Jet enough.

Simple, clean menu. Greek salad with chicken was great! I had the Rib Eye sandwich which was really good too! Will be back to enjoy other items! I really like these places that source local and organic incredients. Outside of all the other reasons... you simply can't beat the flavor. And when you see the Executive Chef (and probably owner) bussing tables... you know every detail is going to be wonderful!

  • Katie B.

Service is amazing and attentive! The fam and I were definitely treated like we were at a much more expensive establishment. Their paninis are great, my son ate up the Mac and cheese, and the husband raved about the BBQ pizza. Like Ah-Narld circa 1984, we'll be back!

    (5)
  • Rashid J.

Had a delicious barbecue pizza that was served crispy and hot. Our waiter was polite and intuitive when it came to the small things like drink refills, napkins and condiments. This place is located in a business district, but in the hood, strangely. Overall, the food and service was terrific. Looking forward to going back.

I wasnt too impressed. I had the Fish Taco's. It was supposed to be Mahi. Im not sure if it was or the Mahi was just spoiled. Really fishy ....I should have sent it back. Service was ok.

Love this little place! And it's right down the street from my apartment which can be dangerous. The first time I went, I had the pear and goat cheese crepes. Oh.my .god. Delicious! That sold me on the place. I've since been back to have the mac and cheese (amazing) and the veggie panini. Really good! They've got a nice selection of items. I've been wanting to try the pizza and they have this sweet deal where you can get pizza and beer for $8 during the week for dinner. I'll have to go soon!

I was so happy on my visit last night to see more vegetarian options on the menu. I got the falafel appetizer plate and it was more than enough for dinner for me. It had a nice little salad on the side, 3 pc of falafel, and a soft delicious pita. My daughters got a BLT panini with chips (she said it was good, but she found it odd that it had cheese) and mac & cheese. The mac and cheese was perhaps not "kid friendly". It had a different type of cheese -- gouda, maybe? -- so tasted very different than the usual kid m&c. It had a yummy cup of fresh fruit with it, though. She also ordered a strawberry smoothie, which she didn't like at all. I admit that it was very blah -- maybe just milk and berries? I've been to RJC about half a dozen times now, and this was my most enjoyable visit yet.

Upon first visit, I really like the looks of the place: historic, hip, fun, with a charming outdoor area under a canopy. Brick streets. Menu is not long, but has a lot of interesting dishes, that aren't too weird. Service was fast and efficient. When the cook comes over to ask how my meal was, that was impressive. These are people who want to please. Got the shaved roast beef sandwich on english muffin bread. Good sandwich, but the grilled bread was so hard it rips the inside of your mouth. Why do they do that? This is an easy fix, to be sure, so I'm hoping next time will be different. I WANT to come back to this place, and sample more of what they have. Wood-fired pizzas, crepes, and homemade desserts. Just a great place to hang out for a cup of coffee, or for a meal. Gilmore has done their homework.

My husband and I stopped in on our way Up North.. It wasn't busy, with maybe about 5 or 6 other people there. Decided to try their pizzas for lunch. Decent and tasty, and a good price for the size. The waitress was nice, though very slow, and while we were just sitting around waiting for the check and a takeout box, she was off socializing with friends. Since it was snowy out and we had a long drive ahead of us, we decided to order some hot drinks to go - cafe au lait for the hubby, and a hot chocolate for me. Should have tasted the drinks before we left.. They both had incredibly weird tastes to them. My husband thinks his had an almond taste. Mine was just unpleasant. Took 3 sips and the rest went to waste. Probably would not return in the near future.

I had a wonderful time at this super cute restaurant for Saturday brunch. The stuffed french toast was tasty, not quite what I've had before in a stuffed french toast, but very good. The coffee was good and my cup was kept full. One of my dining companions had this giant breakfast burrito, in which he ate every last bite. My only complaint is that I would have liked to have a mimosa with my breakfast. They could really add to their brunch by having more beverage options.

I have only been here one time, and it was amazing. We had an had the bruschetta appetizer and it was delicious. The balsamic vinegar that they use is very very good. For dinner my dad ordered a pizza, and I ordered one of their specials which was mac and cheese (not their regular menu item) and we split. I cannot remember what exactly was in the mac and cheese, but it was delicious. It had several different types of cheese in it, and also had quite a few other ingredients. I remember bacon and asparagus. The pizza was wood-fired and very good. I have had better pizza, but it was a lot better than you would expect from a cafe. The only disappointing thing about the experience was that we had originally ordered hummus for an appetizer and they were out. Then again had they had the hummus we would not have had a chance to try the delicious bruschetta.

I had a brunch/lunch here recently, and was impressed by what the Red Ball Jet Cafe had to offer. My fiance and her friend both said they remembered the space when it was a library. But now it's a funky restaurant/bar. I ordered a pork burrito. It was a good choice, and was tasted pretty good. I will say though, it should have been warmer. But the meat was tender, and the fillings tasted very fresh. Lots of fresh cilantro was a nice touch. My fiance had the mac and cheese. By far and away some of the best mac and cheese I've ever had. It had real nice texture to it, along with some great flavor. Service was good. The waitress seemed new, but was overall friendly and attentive. Will definitely go back on a future trip to GR.

After partying all night for my cousin's 30th birthday our group - older and not used to closing down a bar - was looking for a place to have breakfast, talk about the night, nurse respective hangovers and enjoy each others company. Scott to the rescue! I whipped out my iPhone and loaded up the Yelp app, searched and found the Red Ball 3.3 miles away. I was only looking for something better than a national chain, so imagine my surprise when we stepped into this beautiful little neighborhood cafe. Our group of six walked in and immediately were seated at a round 6-top. Great place to try and piece together the foggy details of the night before.. Service was good. I ordered the Greek omelet. Tasty and tangy with artichoke, feta, olives and red peppers. The homefries were also very good. This came with a muffin that was fresh baked. I have high standards for coffee.. The cappuccino was ok. They could use some training on how to properly froth milk, and I like a stronger ratio. The espresso I ordered after the cap was better. But like I said, I have very high standards for coffee. The bathroom in here was unusually cool, kind of a random fact but I was taken aback when I walked in. I will go back if I am ever in the area again.

Had a great brunch with my girlfriend one Saturday morning with some delicious food. Both of our meals had bacon so you can't really go wrong. We sat outside and had great service. A while after leaving I realized that I left my favorite jacket at the restaurant and the manager was awesome enough to ship it back to me since I had already left the state. Love you guys!

Past Sunday we have visited for breakfast and team took approximately 50mins to sit a group of 6 and basically sit a few other larger groups ahead of us. When we have had a conversation with a crew member, he suggested that "we need to learn to wait and he can't possible understand why we're upset about him sitting a group just arrived ahead of us". We sincerely appreciated the wisdom of the young individual and had to discuss it with manager to get a table. Then food took around 75mins to serve with multiple rounds of excuses and despite manager has been informed about the experience, he said "I will make sure things are better next time." I don't know if he does realize there won't be a next time and there are plenty of places that would welcome $200+ tab and show respect & hospitality. Poorest link of Gilmore collection, where most restaurants are good.

The decor and atmosphere is cool, the menu is outstanding. Red Ball Jet Cafe is a place you have to check out if you've are living in GR. I've always driven by the cafe, but hadn't actually stopped in until last summer. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or an early dinner you won't be disappointed. What I found to be rather delicious were the: pizzas (barbeque, pesto), the pasta, and the CBT panini. The cafe also serves alcohol, which makes it a great place to frequent for happy hour. And in the summer, the seating outdoors (in the back) makes for a nice change in scenery. Overall, if you haven't stopped in yet, you are missing out. If you go once, you'll definitely be back again.

Stopped in for some lunch. Got the "Shaved Rib-eye Sami" and I loved it. Comes on Van English Muffin Bread which was perfectly toasted. The location has a cute feel to it and has wonderful smells from the wood-fired oven. Would of had a micro-brew from the tap if I wasn't on the clock. Defiantly will be back here to explore some more of there menu/drinks.

Red Ball Jet Cafe is a cozy neighborhood breakfast & lunch spot in a revitalized bank building. It is part of the Gilmore Collection (think "The B.O.B."). I visited Red Ball Jet with my wife and friends for a Sunday morning breakfast after visiting GVSU for Homecoming. I chose to go with the breakfast burrito, add bacon. It was very good! The rest of our party went with a crepe, which is bulk of their breakfast selection. All of the crepes looked great. Overall, service was good, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was great. I would certainly return.

My parents were very excited to take me here when I was in town last. I guess it was just one of those places that made them think of me (awww! they don't forget I am their daughter just because I live in a different state!). I was really into the feel of the restaurant. It is definitely eclectic but it all still goes together well. We sat down for breakfast and I was a little sad when I saw the menu. There aren't a ton of choices and nothing really seemed like something I wanted to order. I ended up getting one of their savory crepes. Something I was pretty against up to this point. I am one of those strange people that can't handle sugary breakfasts and I always assumed crepes were to be eaten covered in powdered sugar and some kind of preserves. Mine came stuffed with potatoes, cheese and bacon (3 things you really can't mess up). They were awesome, everything worked great together and I was honestly impressed. Then I took a bite of my moms and I was instantly jealous. She ordered the veggie crepes and they were filled with artichokes, red peppers and some delicious creamy sauce that I assume is made of crushed up angels.

It's a pretty average breakfast place with a decent selection. I had the bacon, egg, and portobella panini. It was decent. Nothing really wrong with it, but generally forgettable. The breakfast potatoes were not good. Over-seasoned and a tad on the slimy side. The pesto crepes were not my style, but they weren't bad. Overall, this place isn't bad (it may even be good by Michigan standards), but I would not go out of my way to eat here again.

This place is just lovely! The food is fantasic the staff is friendly. Love the salads and panninis . I was driving back to Chicago from Northern MI. and stopped off here for lunch. We had a terrible trip in MI however , once we stopped here for lunch everything seemed to turn around. Thanks Red Jet Cafe!!

On a recent trip to GR for a beer festival, the guys were looking for an interesting place to grab breakfast. I had driven by Red Ball Jet Cafe the day prior and it had that cool "urban coffeehouse" look to it so we decided to stop by. 11am on a Sunday and the place was expectedly packed. Lucky for us a table for four was just leaving so we were in business. Red Ball Jet is in an old bank building which makes for cool architecture, high ceilings and a fun vibe for this type of spot. Our server was cheery and prompt with water, coffee and juice. The coffee was definitely a weak "diner blend" that would be OK if I had all day to satiate my caffeine addiction. Almost ordered an espresso drink, but just made do with the watery joe. One in our party ordered a crepe, another ordered an omelette and I ordered a scramble. Food arrived relatively quickly considering the packed house. Portions were on the small side for the price (spoiled by gargantuan Chicago breakfast portions back home, I think), but tasty if not somewhat forgettable. My friend who ordered the crepe seemed happiest with his meal so that might be the way to go here. All in all a nice little place. I might stick to an espresso drink and a big muffin if I return, but still a very serviceable spot for a lazy brunch among friends.

Just as the previous post stated. Tiny but very welcoming. Had burgers on rye. Very tasty. Didn't have a wait but it was full up. The service is top notch almost lunch and a show. Great place to meet what could be new friends. I will stop again when in town.

    Once a month I come here with my love for breakfast. I look forward to it every time!!! He gets a chai latte, I get a cafe miel and we both love the coffees. Then we share a supreme biscuit and gravy pizza, which is delightful. Biscuit crust has perfect balance of buttery goodness and slightly soft, slightly crispy consistency. Eggs are delicious, veggies are fresh, and the sausage gravy isn't overpowering and doesn't sog the crust. Then we share crepes. Usually it's blueberry and peach which we love, but today... I opted for the apple, gouda bacon crepes and they were amazing. Perfection!!!! Service is fine, food is creative and delicious. Love this place! Can't wait to try lunch or dinner!!! {location is neat, but not in best part of town.}

Extremely disappointed!!!! Our waitress seemed a little preoccupied so getting coffee refills was a little challenging. Also, I ordered stuffed French toast and 1 of my pieces was burnt. Too overpriced for the level of their food and service. We definitely won't be repeat customers.

Service is amazing and attentive! The fam and I were definitely treated like we were at a much more expensive establishment. Their paninis are great, my son ate up the Mac and cheese, and the husband raved about the BBQ pizza. Like Ah-Narld circa 1984, we'll be back!

Had a delicious barbecue pizza that was served crispy and hot. Our waiter was polite and intuitive when it came to the small things like drink refills, napkins and condiments.

Loved it the first time I went, but they changed their menu and dramatically decreased their serving size. Good food, but don't go for a satisfying meal.

I have only been here once, an I must say, it was some of the best pizza I have had, its like they cook it over a fire or something, sweet! Cheap food and drinks, and if I didn't have to drive down plainfield for 30 minuets, I would go here more often.
